In Haiti, Hibiscus are people's favourite and considered the national flower. Locally known as the Rose Cayenna, Hibiscus are widespread and colourful to the core. Hence, we decided to decorate the rims of our plates and bowls for this collection with a row of flowers and gems.

As part of Tè's second collection, Romantic reflects upon a time after tragedy, inviting the blossom of personal identity, the restoration of rights, and reposession of natural wealth. A moment to  rejoice and celebrate, a romanticism of nature, sustenance, and material. Characterised by floral detailing and deep red glaze, Tè uses the colours of passion and courage.

ABOUT TÈ

Tè is taken from Haitian-Creole origins meaning ‘soil’. An alter ego to Margaret Yap’s chaotic and fluorescent prism, it is filled with ruminations of ancient ruins and hazy remnants of a colonial reign, as she uncovers a hidden sanctuary underneath it all. Exploring stoneware in a raw and rustic manner coupled with fleeting romantic ideologies, Tè evokes feelings of periodic nostalgia.
